Although the country of Seychelles boasts over 100 islands, most tourists choose to arrive by Air Seychelles to the main Mahé Island. It is very easy and convenient to travel around this main island and the two other major islands in Seychelles, La Digue and Praslin by air. Other modes of transport in between the islands are through public transport and car hire services. There is also a regular, reliable and very affordable boat service that has facilitated travel between the major islands and other tourist hubs in the region.

Air Seyhelles : History

Air Seychelles is the national airline of the country of Seychelles, head quartered at the Seychelles international airport, which is strategically located on the Mahé Island. Air Seychelles has both international and inter-island flight services, thus facilitating easy travel to and from the country of Seychelles as well as within. The airport is strategically and conveniently located only 6miles (10 km) from the capital city of Seychelles, Victoria.

The carrier further offers domestic shuttle flights from the airport to other main islands, which operate on a regular basis throughout the day. Note however that while there are domestic shuttle flights to the other islands, they may run only once a day, or they can be scheduled for several days a week. It is therefore advisable to plan your itinerary accordingly to avoid inconveniences.

Additionally, you can opt to travel by helicopter from Mahé to La Digue or Praslin, and to other tinier islands of the region that make up Seychelles archipelago. Some of the main airports in Seychelles where Air Seychelles operates in include:-

- Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) – Mahé Island

- Bird Island Airport (BDI) – Bird Island

- Praslin Island Airport (PRI) – Praslin Island

- Fregate Island Airport (FRK) – Fregate Island

- Denis Island Airport (DEI) – Denis Island

- Desroches Island Airport (DES) – Desroches Island (Ile Desroches)

There are smaller airports on the islands of Astove, Assumption, Alphonse, Coetivy, Farquhar, Marrie Louise, Remire, Platte, and D’Arros.

Air Seychelles : Alternatives

With that being said, there are times when a car rental or the public transport system is the most convenient and viable option available. For instance, if you have missed your flight or if you want to explore the beauty of the country on your way to your destination can be a convenient option for hiring a car or opting for public transport. You can hire a car from the Seychelles International Airport or in the islands.

There is a regular public transport system throughout the day to and from the main islands of Mahé, La Digue, and Praslin. Taxis are also a viable option when in Seychelles, and are actually a very popular option of getting around the country easily. As is with any other tourist destination, taxi transport is best for short journeys, say when travelling between the hotel and airport.

You can book your Air Seychelles ticket online on the official air Seychelles website, or check out the various tourism and travel websites dedicated to providing passengers and tourists with the best travel deals in Seychelles and across the world.

Situated on the northeast of Madagascar, Seychelles consists of a cluster of approximately 100 islands in the Indian Ocean with the principal ones being Praslin & Mahe. Considered by many as a paradise on earth, these islands provide the perfect gateway for honeymooners and for those seeking a unique holiday experience. These islands are basked in sunshine throughout the year, due to their close proximity to the equator, thereby providing the perfect retreat spot for tourists from America and Europe, during the winter season.

Seychelles islands- Recommended place to visit

A number of excellent hotels, boasting of amenities like mini bar, air conditioning, telephone etc. are also available on Seychelles islands. Enjoy a wide variety of outdoor sports like paragliding, diving, water-skiing, snorkeling, sailing, canoeing, and windsurfing during the daytime. Return back to the hotel at night and try out your luck at the casino. Art aficionados are recommended to check out the private art galleries in Mahe that are run by famous artists like Antonio Flippin, Donald Adeliade and others. Why not gift that special lady in your life with something unique, which she will remember for the rest of her life, by arranging your marriage in the Seychelles? You can get the same arranged through the travel agent who will gladly help you to arrange the wedding of your dreams there.

Concerning languages you should not have too much problem there. About one third of Seychellois (inhabitants of Seychelles) speak English quite fluently. Indeed this is the language that is used in school and other educational institutions besides Creole. French is also use by a small part of the population but rather negligible when compared to English speakers.

If you want to save money for your visit on the Seychelles islands it is generally advised to book your ticket through the internet as the price charged are usually cheaper. Indeed without any big overheads online travel agents will be in a better position to provide you with lower price. Similarly booking your ticket earlier can also entitle you to have an early bird discount on your fare. This may also apply to hotels and other accommodations in the country.

Seychelles is famous for its abundant natural aura, its magnetic beaches and world-renowned bird sanctuaries and it is counted among the most sought after romantic getaways. However, it’s also known as the ‘rich man’s beach resort’. Well, not anymore! Tourism in Seychelles has picked-up and even an ordinary man with an ordinary bank balance can revel at its shores and enjoy what the breathtaking paradise island of Seychelles has in store. Pay attention to the following three pointers to make Seychelles cheap pocket-friendly:
Airfares
Plan your trip in advance. Speak to your nearest travel agent, go online look for the cheapest air fare deals. You may get stuck with a no frills flight, but your trip along the sensuous islands will be absolutely worth it.
Accommodation

Apart from the five star beach resorts, the three main islands of Seychelles, Mahe, La Digue and Praslin are dotted with affordable small hotels, family run guest houses and self catering chalets. These are properties you need to keep a look out for. They are affordable, suit your wallet and may not offer the luxury factor but sure are comfortable. Make sure you stay at hotels that have the Seychelles Secret trademark, in that way, the tourism department ensuresyou go back with a mind blowing experience.

Island-hopping

Seychelles cheap- Yes you can

A private jetplane across the islands would be nice, but sadly, your bank balance does not allow it. There are a number of other ways to get around. By sea High Speed public catamarans operate across the three islands. If you like traveling by road, car rental is an option, but it could pinch the pocket. Taxis are available, however they charge surcharge between a few hours and are not open to bargaining.

Biking within the islands can be pleasurable and prove extremely cost effective. Buses are an option, these are the most economic way to travel but you would have to change several busses to get to your final destination. Not for long distances, but just for some fun, you have to take an ox cart ride in the island of La Digue.
Seychelles cheap travel plans may appear demanding and seemingly impossible for first-time visitors, but by using the above-mentioned tips, you can save a reasonable amount of money without having to compromise on anything substantial during your Seychelles vacation.

There is never an off season at the Seychelles Islands. The Seychelles weather makes it a four season holiday resort island so to speak. The sparkling waters are ever inviting, the lush green patches of forestry make way for adventure every month of the year and the under water life is more than delighted to greet with you splendid surprises all year long.

Like its people, the weather in Seychelles is always warm, and bereft of extremes. Gently serenading all those who visit with a limitless supply of sunshine, the temperature rarely drops below 24°C or rises above 32°C.
Most of the activities can be enjoyed all year long, however there are certain months that are more suitable for sailing or bird watching, let’s have a quick look. Sailing and Snorkeling can be enjoyed all year round, while wind surfing is at its glorious best in the months of May through September. Go diving in March, April, May, September, October and November. Fish to your heart’s content from October to April.

Bird watching is a year long activity, however there are certain periods you should keep an eye out for. April is breeding season, May through September is nesting and October is migration. The best time to get your hiking boots out and go on an adventure trail is between May and September. Seychelles weather is truly exotic and for those who worship the sun, this island is the place for you! Now that you know what the weather is like in the islands, it’s necessary that you go prepared.

Light clothing is advisable for an enjoyable day in the sun, hats, sunglasses, and most importantly a generous supply of UV protection (SPF 30+). Even on a day that is overcast, the sun can be strong, so keep the sun block handy, you do not want to spend the rest of your holiday with a nasty sun burn.

At Seychelles, the weather is perfect for every kind of traveler. For lovers, who want to watch the sun rise and the sun set, enjoy a glass of cold champagne on a warm night. For adventurers who want to scale peaks not in the harshest of conditions. And for those who yearn to bond with nature and rediscover themselves amongst tranquil green landscapes. Seychelles weather can inspire peace, fuel adventure and stir romance—it is ideally suited for a couple’s vacation or a family retreat.

Tropical paradise, Island of love, the archipelago nation off the east coast of Africa has many a splendid names. Seychelles – a home away from home to travelers from across the world, leaves many enchanted with its beauty. There’s a reason why, the hungry adventurer keeps returning – because every trip is bespoke, every U-turn has a new treasure. Seychelles Tourism was once restricted only to those with heavy pockets, but things have changed now…a light budget, does not translate into a light experience anymore.

Sights and sounds to dazzle the senses, national monuments that are soaked in years of history, rich culture that echoes from local folk, the natural surrounding beauty accentuated by the waves and the forests alike.

Seychelles Tourism has left no stone unturned in making sure that guests, on even a shoe string budget are treated like royalty. Smaller hotels, guesthouses and resorts line the three most popularly visited islands of Seychelles: Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.

The best way to soak in the sun, would be a leisurely sun bath on the exotic beaches. An unassuming jungle trail, excursions up the many granite peaks and an effort to make friends with the underwater life beneath the Seychelles Seas is what makes this island equivalent to paradise. There are a number of tourist attractions at the islands that you must visit. Some of the most sought after destinations include:

Mahe—here you can visit:

• Victoria’s Clock Tower
• National History Museum
• Codevar Craft Centre – for souvenirs and gifts
• Natural History Museum
• Botanical Gardens – recommended for giant tortoises and plant species
• Morne Seychellois National Park

Praslin—it is popular for:
• Anse Lazio Beach – voted “The best beach in the world” in 2004
• Vallee de Mai. The National Park is well-known for the ‘Coco de Mer’ palm and some of the rarest birds on earth
• Anse Volbert beach – the islands best swimming place
• Praslin Ocean Farm. Dedicated to the cultivation of Giant Clams and Black Lip Pearl oysters which form the black pearls
• Sister Rocks, South Marianne and White Bank – three top dive sites
La Digue—renowned for tourist attractions like:
• Anse Source d’Argent beach. One of the most photographed beaches in the world.
• Historical Cemetery
• Ox cart ride

Seychelles Tourism has been serving international tourists for many decades and hence, its overall standards for hosting visitors is at par with the best of global touring destinations.

There is a reason why the tropical island of Seychelles still inhabits a sense of mystery within itself. An escape from reality to many a holiday seekers, there are still a million spots on these islands that remain undiscovered and most importantly untouched.

If you’ve made up your mind, to live the Creole lifestyle for a while, your Seychelles trip can be memorable and enlightening, if you just follow a few simple steps. So, gear up with the right attitude, itinerary and some sun block, and we guarantee you’ll surrender to some tense resistance, when it’s time to go back home!

The most popular and most visited islands are Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. Blessed with the most exquisite beaches in the world and abundant with the goodness of nature’s finest, the triplets offer a variety of diverse activities, varying from bathing under the tropical sun, nature trails into the tranquil forests, bird watching at world renowned bird sanctuaries, deep sea diving, fishing, sailing to a lot more. Now that you know what to do when you get to Seychelles, allow us to help you make the most of your holiday, by providing you with a few travel tips.

Everyone is welcome at the Seychelles Islands, NO VISAs are required for entry. However, a few other documents are required to obtain immigration clearance, these include:
a) A valid passport carrying the date of entry
b) Return ticket
c) Accommodation proof and contact details (like Next of Kin)

The local currency is the Seychelles Rupees (SCR). ATMs are located at all major banks in Mahe, La Digue and Praslin. It is advisable NOT to change all your foreign currency into SCR, but only the amount required for the particular day. Even though Seychelles enjoys a low crime rate, it is advisable not to carry your passport and large sums of money with you while you travel to the beach. Most hotels provide safekeeping facilities. The sun in Seychelles is very strong, so if you’re hoping to come back home with a spectacular tan and not a sun burn, we recommend a strong sun block.

Like most tourist destinations, do not travel alone—make sure, at least one person is aware of your whereabouts. However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t explore this exotic island destination. Shedding your inhibitions and looking beyond the conventional touring spots is the ideal way of making your Seychelles trip truly enlightening.

The 115 islands that make-up Seychelles are peacefully tucked away about 1600 km from the east coat of Africa. There is something very unique about these picturesque islands, even though many a travelers have reveled across its pristine shores—the exotic Seychelles Islands emanate an aura of exclusivity, which can be very simply described as magic.

These truly gifted islands, will spoil you for choice, but fret not, we’re going to give you a head’s up into the activities you must mindlessly indulge in and the places you absolutely must visit to make your adventure to the exotic Seychelles Islands, an affair to remember.

For starters, if you are wondering which Island you should go to, it’s clearly a choice between one of the mountainous inner islands of Mahe, Praslin or La Digue, but we’d suggest, not to settle for just one island, explore the beauty and island-hop till you drop.

Sailors Ahoy!
The most adventurous way to explore the islands is through the waves. Get your camera on stand by, or ensure your mind is ready to capture the magic, because herein lies heaven on earth. Imposing granitic islands in the midst of content waves, against the backdrop of a clear blue sky, give irony a new meaning.

Beauty lies sea-deep!
Let under water magic fill your senses, there are many a diving centers across Seychelles, and you cannot leave the islands, without taking a deep dive into the ocean. Acquaint yourself with the marine life and lush landscapes under the pure azure Seychelles Sea.

Tropical Treks
Follow a trail into the jungles, where the natural habitat beckons you to bird watch, enjoy an exquisite meal or just sit back, close your eyes and enjoy the simplicities of the Creole Island Lifestyle.
